7 Detoxifying Yoga Poses

Forbidden foods tastes delicious, but can leave you feeling sluggish, bloated, and uncomfortable. Detoxifying yoga poses are a great way to refresh and cleanse your body. These powerful twists and inversions will  increase blood flow to the lymph nodes, and make you feel refreshed. Do these poses in any order you like, but try to hold each one for at least 30 seconds. We also recommend warming up with a few sun salutations (follow video below)—they will get your heart pumping and your body sweating, which is another great way to detox.

1. Standing Forward FoldThis inversion is great for releasing your spine and hamstrings, and for bringing increased blood flow to your lymph nodes. You can either let your arms hang, or grab opposite elbows. Keep a tiny bend in your knees, so as not to lock them.
2. One-Legged Downward Facing DogDownward Facing Dog is a grounding pose. One-Legged Downward Facing Dog gives you the same benefits along with increased circulation and a more intense hamstring stretch.
3. Revolved TriangleTwists are fantastic for wringing you out and detoxifying your body. Revolved Triangle also opens your back and side waist. Look up if it’s OK for your neck, otherwise, look down.
4. Revolved ChairRevolved chair is a powerful pose for your legs and your core. Sit low, twist from your belly up (keep your knees facing forward), and twist to the right first.
5. Seated Spinal TwistSeated Spinal Twist is a calming and cleansing pose. Twist to the right first, try to feel the twisting action start inside your core, and breathe.
6. Shoulder Stand 
If you haven’t practiced a Shoulder Stand before, try it with your legs up against a wall, so as not to hurt your neck. Try to stay in Shoulder Stand longer than the other poses—two to three minutes of this inversion will do wonders for your body.
7. Supine TwistWind down your detox practice with a Supine Twist. As with other twists, twist to the right first. Breathe into any part of your body where you feel tension, and feel it melt away.
